99 tigers die in 9 months in India
In India, 99 tigers have died in the first nine months of this year. The death toll could rise further this year, according to the country’s National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).

Of the 528 tigers in Madhya Pradesh, 32 died in Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Pench, Sutrapur and Panna. In the last nine months, 20 tigers have died in Maharashtra and 15 in Karnataka. Outside of this, tigers have died in a few areas.
In 2016, the presence of 2,908 tigers was recorded in India. With more time to come in 2021, there are fears that some tigers may die. And if that happens, the record for tiger deaths in the last decade will be broken.
