A Retired Police Officer With A Fake Aluminum Badge of Interpol Arrested Outside US Capitol
A surprising incident happened outside the US Capitol when a mysterious man was found outside the building. The Capitol Police have identified him as a retired New York City police officer named Jerome Felipe. As reported, he is aged 53 and belongs to Flint, Michigan, the USA.
Felipe parked his 2017 Dodge Charger outside the west side of the Capitol building on Friday at 5:00 a.m. When an officer approached him, he showed him a fake badge and said he belonged to Interpol. He also explained that he was a criminal inspector.
The Police found some ammunition, and now he is charged with illegal possession of cartridges and illegal ammunition.
Felipe then allowed the officers to search his car, where they found a BB gun, severely high capacity magazines, two ballistic vests, and other ammunition in the car. No real firearms were found in his car, but Felipe is now facing charges for unlawful possession of high-capacity magazines and unregistered ammo.
Felix retired when he was facing allegations of misrepresenting himself as a detective in official proceedings when his actual rank was a police officer.
The investigations are still underway of why he parked outside the US Capitol building. The Police are still without any detailed information about the incident. A spokesperson of the NYPD told the New York Post that Felipe retired in 2018 from the Police and directed any further questions to the Capitol Police.
The Spokesperson said, “ We are in full cooperation with the Police investigations of the US Capitol.”
The police officers are more concerned about the security of the Capitol building after January 6, 2021. The supporters of the former president Donald Trump stormed into the building to reverse the results of the 2020 presidential elections.
That day, more than a dozen retired police officers and active-duty officers were arrested. Some of them were NYPD veterans and arrested for being a part of the invasion of the Capitol building.
Police Still haven’t Got Any Detailed Evidence
Police are still investigating the incident, but there hasn’t been a critical breakthrough in this case. USCP said in a statement, “The investigations are still underway and trying to determine the reason behind why Felipe parked his car near the US Capitol.”
He further added that Felipe had been charged for unlawful possession of unregistered ammo and high-capacity magazines.
In December, an officer of the US Capitol Police, Sergeant Aquilino Gonell, said something shocking. He revealed that the officers are worried about another potential attack on the Capitol. Gosnell was among the protectors of the Capitol building during the riot last year. He also suffered injuries during his duty.
Gosnell said during an NPR interview, “A lot of officers have a possibility in mind of this being a recurring incident annually or every-four-year thing. That’s why officers like myself are speaking publicly about it because we don’t want that to happen again.”
The investigation is still underway, and let’s hope we find out why the retired police officer was outside the US Capitol.
